Support for Boronia’s ongoing development will continue, with a $1.34 million boost from the Victorian Government’s Suburban Revitalisation program. In partnership with the Boronia Revitalisation Board, this funding will deliver six new projects: 

• Erica Avenue streetscape renewal ($800,000) 
• A program of pop-up events ($200,000) 
• A second round of the business façade upgrades in the town centre ($100,000) 
• New lighting for major roads in Boronia ($100,000 towards a $410,000 program) 
• Boronia Big Flix Festival ($80,000) 
• Signage to improve connectivity in the activity centre ($60,000).

Other recent Suburban Revitalisation commitments to Boronia include Beautify Boronia, involving three large scale murals ($150,000), Green Spine Corridor Concept Plan ($50,000), Boronia Business Façade Upgrade Round 1 ($120,000) and Lupton Way Shared Zone and Lighting Upgrade ($250,000). 

The Suburban Revitalisation program works with regional and local stakeholders to help plan and deliver infrastructure, community development and place-making initiatives that focus on driving social and economic outcomes in key activity centres identified across Melbourne. 

Building on the success of Suburban Revitalisation Boards in Broadmeadows and Frankston, recent projects are focused on six suburban areas supported by new Suburban Revitalisation Boards in Melton, Boronia, Noble Park, Lilydale, Tarneit and Reservoir. Other areas that have also received significant support during the past 12 months include Altona, Thomastown, Lalor and Springvale. 

Funding of $21.25 million over two years has been provided to the eight boards through the Building Works Fund, and the 2020-21 State Budget.
