The Eastern Raptors Rugby League Club, Knox Boronia Churches Cricket Club and the Lysterfield Cricket Club now have more room to grow with the completion of female friendly pavilion upgrades at Colchester Reserve.

Member for Bayswater Jackson Taylor has officially opened the new pavilion at the popular Boronia ground, made possible by a $500,000 boost from the Victorian Government’s Female Friendly Facilities Fund.

Up until recently the teams of the Raptors, Burras and Beavers have been limited by ageing clubrooms when it comes to growth and opening their doors to more players, especially women and girls.

The transformation of the pavilion featured the construction of four female-friendly and accessible change rooms with amenities, a female-friendly umpire’s change room, two first aid rooms, office, storeroom, and new accessible decking.

The developments provide the perfect venue for local rugby league and cricket to stage more training, competition games, development programs and local celebrations.
The Victorian Government has invested more than $1.05 billion in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.

From playspace upgrades to pavilion upgrades, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.
