Pedestrians and cyclists will soon have safer ways to cross a key intersection in Boronia, with the Andrews Labor Government investing $7.7 million to upgrade the Albert Avenue and Mountain Highway intersection.

The project is now moving into the design phase, which will help determine the full scope and likely completion date.

When finished, the project will improve safety and connectivity to nearby paths for those crossing at the busy site.

The upgrades will allow vulnerable road users safer access to Alchester Shopping Village and other nearby paths.

The project is part of the Local Road and Intersection Upgrade program, which is boosting the economy by creating more than 350 jobs around the state.

The program is targeting suburban roads across Melbourne, reducing bottlenecks for drivers and improve safety for other road users.

The $117 million program is funded thanks to investment in the Victorian Budget 2020/21, continuing the Government’s unprecedented state-wide investment in vital infrastructure and service.

The design phase of the program is beginning in this year, with further updates on completion dates once the scopes of the projects are complete.
