Boronia’s rugby league and cricket players will soon have female friendly change rooms at Colchester Reserve, thanks to funding from the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula today announced construction of new change rooms and pavilion refurbishment works at the reserve, made possible by a $500,000 grant from the Labor Government’s Female Friendly Facilities Fund.
The reserve and pavilion are used by the Eastern Raptors Rugby League Club and Boronia Cricket Club.
Currently, the existing change facilities are not appropriate for the growing number of female players signing up to play rugby league and cricket which is why the upgrades are so important.
The upgraded facilities will include two new female friendly and accessible change rooms with amenities, a female friendly umpire’s change room and improvements to the existing pavilion.
The project is part of the Labor Government’s dedication to sports and active recreation and gender equality, to encourage all Victorians to get out there and get active.
The Labor Government has made the biggest investment in grassroots sporting opportunities in Victoria’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sport.
The facility refurbishments will be made possible with support of Knox City Council, Cricket Victoria and the Eastern Raptors Rugby League Club.
