Funding to Fix McMahons Road Finally Delivered
03 May 2022
Jackson Taylor, State Labor Member for Bayswater, has announced that his campaign to see a safer intersection at McMahons Road and the Burwood Highway, in Ferntree Gully, has been successful.
The State Labor Government has delivered funds, locked into the State Budget, to ensure that this project is delivered, once and for all, ending years of talk and empty promises.
The intersection has been the subject of years of talk by others with promises made to deliver an upgrade, with nothing to show for it.
However, following Mr. Taylor’s campaign, which saw over 600 locals voice their concern and support for an upgrade here, the upgrade will deliver a fully signalised intersection, with traffic lights to provide safer turns for motorists, and crossings for pedestrians and other road users.
The intersection upgrade will make it safer and more efficient for road users and pedestrians as well as improving travel times.
This builds on other important local roads projects that Mr. Taylor has been able to secure, including a safer intersection at Alchester Village in Boronia, the brand new Knox shared pathway along the Burwood Highway in Wantirna as well as delivery of 40km/h flashing signs for The Basin CBD to improve pedestrian safety in the village.
