Boronia Hawks football, netball and cricket teams have a new home ground advantage thanks to the completion of a new game changing pavilion at Tormore Reserve in Boronia.
Member for Bayswater Jackson Taylor today joined Mary Doyle MP, Federal Member for Aston and Knox City Council Mayor, Cr Paige Kennett, to officially open the pavilion, made possible by a $1.2 million investment from the Victorian Government.
Home to more than 550 players that represent the Boronia Football Netball Club and Boronia Cricket Club, the previous pavilion was struggling to cope with growing demand.
The new pavilion comes complete with 4 new change rooms with amenities suitable for women and girls, social and multi-purpose spaces, viewing platform, meeting room, office space, storage and refurbished kitchen, kiosk, and servery.
It’s not only a boon for both clubs but further enhances the ground’s reputation as an important Eastern Football Netball League and Eastern Cricket Association finals venue.
There are also new spaces for nearby schools and community groups to gather and meet and develop local programs.
The Victorian Budget 2026/27 is providing more than $24 million to support the development of high-quality, accessible community sports infrastructure across the state, including through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund which is now open for applications and closes 28 July.
Across Victoria, the government has kicked in more than $2.4 billion in community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.
From oval redevelopments to upgraded pavilions, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
Mr Taylor acknowledged the Knox City Council for its more than $180,000 contribution and management of the project and the Federal Government for its $5 million.
