The Marie Wallace Train Park is set for a massive shake up and revitalisation thanks to the Andrews Government.
Member for Bayswater, Jackson Taylor, was recently pleased to announce $550,000 of funding being provided by the State Government for a major redevelopment to the train park playground as well as new female-friendly modular constructed change-rooms for the oval and an improved social room in the existing pavilion.
The beloved train park, a Regional Playground enjoyed by so many local families will be getting a major upgrade to the old equipment as well as installation of new equipment and specialised play areas – and even a mini red train for toddlers. It’ll mean a massive boost to the park, with families right across our community coming to play and enjoy the space we know and love for many years to come as a result.
Alongside this, the oval will be getting brand new female friendly changerooms – it will see the existing pavilion expanded and repurposed to a modern, inclusive standard for all users, promoting female participation in footy, cricket and all sports, for all users of the park – including the Bayswater Junior Football Club, the Bayswater Cricket Club and the Knox Roadrunners.
This is just one of the projects to benefit from a share in more than $30 million right across the state.
This investment also recognises the overwhelming demand for shovel-ready community sports infrastructure across Victoria and includes additional funding provided through the Community
Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.
From change room upgrades to new aquatic centres, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.
This round of the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund will deliver over $243 million in local economic activity, creating hundreds of construction, maintenance and operational jobs.
The fund contributes to over $915 million government investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014. This investment is improving the health, wellbeing, social and economic outcomes for Victorian communities.
The Local Sports Infrastructure Fund is also a key component of the government’s new suite of infrastructure investment programs including the World Game Facilities Fund, Community Cricket Program and Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.
Mr. Taylor has acknowledged Knox Council for its commitment and financial contribution to the exciting projects and their valued continued partnership.
