Cricket is set for the fast lane at Guy Turner Reserve in Bayswater thanks to a new cricket training facility, backed by the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Bayswater Jackson Taylor today joined Knox City Council and the Bayswater Park Sharks Cricket Club to officially launch the new cricket training facility, made possible by a $100,000 investment from the Victorian Government’s Community Cricket Program.

The new four-wicket training facility is fully enclosed with retractable netting. It provides a great new space for the Sharks senior women’s and men’s teams as well as development programs for its five junior teams.

As well as a great space for the club, there is also a dedicated wicket for the local community to test their bowling and batting skills, which is open at all times.

The Victorian Budget 2023/24 is providing more than $213 million to deliver and improve community sports infrastructure and support initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sports clubs and organisations.

More than $1.9 billion has been invested by the government into community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.

Jackson Taylor MP acknowledged the Knox City Council for its contribution of more than $214,000 and its commitment to delivering the project.
