Today the local Member for Bayswater, Jackson Taylor, announced a boost to pedestrian safety along Forest Road in The Basin.
Following concerned residents contacting him, Mr. Taylor has been working closely with the Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Jaala Pulford MP, and has secured new advanced warning signs to alert motorists as they travel along Forest Road.
These advanced warning signs will be installed by the end of May and will drastically improve pedestrian safety for those that walk along Forest Road to and from The Basin, with motorists being made much more aware of people both crossing and walking on the footpath.
The signs will be installed near the intersection of Forest Road and Wright Street, at the lead in to the intersection from both directions.
Many locals choose to walk along this busy road, including school children from The Basin Primary, St. Bernadette’s Primary and the nearby Boronia K-12 College.
This follows an earlier announcement of similar advanced warning signs being installed adjacent to The Basin Temple, along the Mountain Highway, secured by Mr. Taylor late last year.
Jackson Taylor and the Andrews Government are committed to improving safety of pedestrians and road users alike, especially locally in our area. This includes smaller, but meaningful, measures such as advanced warning signs, or larger projects, such as the Bedford and Canterbury Road intersection rebuild in Heathmont, secured by Mr. Taylor in last year’s budget.
