Tomorrow’s local cricket stars will soon be enjoying better facilities at Dobson Park, with the announcement of more than $1.4 million in funding through the second round of the Community Cricket Program – Cricket Facilities stream.

Local Member for Bayswater, Jackson Taylor MP, announced $90,000 funding to upgrade facilities at Dobson Park.

The ground hosts Ferntree Gully Cricket Club and the funding will enable Knox Council to construct a new four lane synthetic cricket net facility, which will be fully enclosed and double as a large multi-use space with retractable netting.

After a disrupted sports season over summer due to the pandemic, the Victorian Government is getting on with helping grassroots sport get back on track through initiatives like the Community Cricket Program

By supporting clubs like Ferntree Gully Cricket Club modernise their facilities, we’re giving grassroots communities the opportunity to cater for even more Victorians keen to do their communities proud.

These initiatives are part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to sport and active recreation, gender equality and encouraging all Victorians to get out there and get active.

The Community Cricket Program has invested more than $2.8 million into 30 cricket infrastructure projects across Victoria.

This initiative is part of the Government’s investment of over $1.1 billion into community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014.
