The Andrews Labor Government is supporting local Suburban Revitalisation projects in Boronia through a $2.5 million investment over two years.
Minister for Suburban Development Shaun Leane today announced revitalisation works in Boronia, including the Green Spine Corridor Concept Design project, Boronia Business Façade Upgrade and Beautify Boronia Mural projects.
The projects will provide a boost to local shopfronts and add some colour and interest through public art and upgrade the streetscape to improve liveability in Boronia for the local community.
The projects will be delivered in partnership with Knox City Council and the Boronia Suburban Revitalisation Board.
These project commitments follow the announcement of support for revitalisation projects in six new activity centres in metropolitan Melbourne, including Boronia, Noble Park, Lilydale, Tarneit, Reservoir and Melton.
This adds to previous investments in Broadmeadows and Frankston, bringing a total of eight activity centres into focus through the Suburban Revitalisation program.
Funding of $21.25 million over two years has been provided to the eight boards through the Building Works Fund and the 2020-21 State Budget.
The Boronia Suburban Revitalisation Board has been tasked with identifying opportunities to renew Boronia through projects that will help reactivate local businesses, engage local communities and support new jobs.
The Victorian Government is committed to encouraging suburban revitalisation as a way of strengthening Melbourne’s liveability and driving economic opportunity and jobs growth closer to where people live.
The Suburban Revitalisation team works with regional and local stakeholders to help plan and deliver economic, infrastructure, community development and place-making initiatives that focus on driving social and economic outcomes in specific activity centres.
